Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced today that Gauntlet, the classic 3D arcade hack-and-slash series, will be making a return to gamer’s hearts everywhere. The only difference is that it’s coming out exclusively for Steam and its console, the SteamBox.
This will be the first game in a new promotion from Warner Brothers. Dubbed the “WB Games Vault”, the service will release digital only games from popular W.B. and Midway franchises to different networks.
According to David Haddad, Senior Vice President of digital games for Warner Brothers, Gauntlet will bring the classic controls of the arcade back with a new look and four-player co-op (local and online). Players will be able to choose from four different classes : warrior, wizard, valkyrie, or elf.
This is the first new title in the series since 2005, when Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows came out for PlayStation 2, Xbox and Gamecube.
Gauntlet has not been announced for any home consoles and will release sometime this summer. Be sure to check out the trailer below.
