Earlier this week–for a brief period of time—Mario Kart 8 surpassed the PlayStation 4 in sales on Amazon. The game isn’t set for a release until the end of the month, and the PS4 has been out since November, but the upcoming racer was still anticipated through the website.
Now, MLB 14: The Show and Sony’s new console have both outpaced the game, but Nintendo sees this as something the Wii U needs.
“We are excited about the launch of Mario Kart 8 as are fans of the franchise, and consider it a ‘must-have’ game for any Mario Kart fan, Wii U owner, or any Nintendo fan in general. With this type of anticipation, we also look forward to bringing in new players who may have never played a kart game, or Wii U for that matter,” says Matt Ryan, the communications manager for Nintendo of Canada.
Mario Kart 8 will be available May 30, 2014 release.
