Take-Two Takes On Comics

Take-Two Takes On Comics

The Publisher behind huge hit series like Bioshock, Grand Theft Auto, and Civilization has added a comic division.

Double Take is the new division of Take-Two and has already released three graphic novels, Rise, Insurrection, and Soul, which take place within the world of the Night of the Living Dead.

The company has partnered with ex-Marvel publisher Bill Jemas, who said, in an interview with Comic Book Resources, they plan on adding superheroes as well. Double Take’s twitter page also recently posted, asking anyone interested in becoming a writer to send them their stuff.

Jemas says the plan is to release it’s comics on social media and then eventually on digital distributors. They also plan to eventually create a kickstarter to have proper books made.

Double Take has stated that no one involved in the original 1968 film, Night of the Living Dead, is a part of their production. The company has simply taken advantage of a copyright slip-up that caused the IP to slip into the public domain.

Jemas’ tactic when he worked at Marvel was to simply throw ideas out and see what people gravitated towards. Double Take seems to be following that model with their approach of releasing content on social media first, and then giving them digital and physical releases.
