New Guitar Hero Also In The Works

New Guitar Hero Also In The Works - 2015-02-24 17:13:27

The rumor mill has been busy heralding the possible return of Rock Band to the new console generation, but how about its arch-enemy? Turns out there are rumors for that too!

Kotaku UK is reporting that two anonymous sources have confirmed to them that not only is a new Guitar Hero titles in production, it’s going to be announced at this year’s E3, and is going to debut in time for the 2015 Christmas season. Other comments from the rumors indicate that the game will be ditching its stylized, cartoony aesthetic for a more traditional, photorealistic look. This jibes with previous rumors of people reporting in for motion capture duty for audience reactions.

Kotaku contacted Activision about the rumor and received this reply:

“We don’t comment on rumour or speculation, but have previously said, that as one of the most beloved entertainment franchises, we would only bring Guitar Hero back if we developed the right innovations to usher the franchise into the new generation of gaming.”

It sounds to me like Activision has decided since the look of Call of Duty sells so well, all games should look and feel like that. After all, who wants to have fun with friends in a light hearted music game, enjoying the simple pleasures of human company when they could be depressed and bleak, losing all hope in humanity as a dark narrative reinforces that combat is cruel and answering the call of duty entails a high price for everyone involved? Okay, our editor-in-chief would. And THAT’S what rock music is all about, man.
