Final Fantasy X Re-Re-Master Gets A Release Date

In December of 2013, Square Enix released an HD remaster of both Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 to PS3 owners. Now they’re double—or triple—dipping with a confirmation on a new release of this PS2 classic coming to the PS4.

Yup, that’s right, on May 12, the FFX/X2 collection is coming to the PS4 as well, for $50.

As to be expected, this isn’t going to be a straight port of the previous port, though don’t expect there to be night and day differences as there were between the PS3 remaster and its original 2001 release. The big tweaks to this PS4 version are:

Cross Save functionality between PS3, PS4 and Vita versions.

Audio switching between original and remastered sound track.

Remote play for the Vita from the PS4 version.

“Enhanced” textures, which basically boils down to slightly crisper graphics.

If, somehow, you missed this the first time, chances are you’ll want this version. It doesn’t really look like there’s enough going on here to lure PS3 owners to splurge again, though.
