Gamers waiting to step back in the rampant crime littered version of Hong Kong won’t have to wait much longer. United Front Games, developer of the sleeper hit (pun intended) Sleeping Dogs, has revealed what’s under the hood for the next entry in the same universe, Triad Wars: Own the Underworld. They have a released a new trailer titled “Own the Underworld” for your viewing pleasure.
Unlike Sleeping Dogs, which pits you as Wei Shen, a lone undercover cop tasked with infiltrating the Sun On Yee Triad organization, Triad Wars gives you free reign to start from the bottom and rise as the most deadly criminal among Hong Kong’s Triad gangs.
The trailer gives a brief look on what lengths you as the player will be able to cross. You can create your own character to cause a ruckus in the underground triad war. Warning, some of the deaths shown are not for the faint at heart.
Square Enix and United Front Games have had the game in a closed beta since last September. Gamers have been able to venture through Hong Kong and not get beaten to a pulp, well, in real life anyway. That’s true virtual tourism right there. A good deal if you can’t actually afford to go.
