Tyler Perry is Cast as Baxter Stockman

The sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 has added actor/ writer/ director/ and producer, Tyler Perry as Baxter Stockman. The character will make his debut in the movie franchise when the sequel opens on June 3, 2016.

Baxter Stokman has been a part of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mythos since the second issue of the comics but has never appeared in any of the previous films. He has been in every other incarnation of the comics and TV shows. Since his debut in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #2 in 1984, the scientist has been responsible for creating multiple devastating trinkets to take down the turtles to even the nostalgic minor robotic annoyances called ‘Mousers’.

Baxter Stockman is usually depicted as African-American in the original comics and has carried through most adaption of the character, besides the one time it was changed in the 80s cartoon where he even turned into mutated humanoid fly.
The question is, can Tyler Perry, master of portraying many roles in his career, be the Stockman this movie needs? Although most of Perry’s on-screen credits are movies he has actually either wrote or directed, he has acted in some hit movies such as Star Trek, Alex Cross and even last year’s Gone Girl. I think I can see it. He is a great actor and knows how to get an audience emotionally invested. I don’t doubt this casting whatsoever.

The production has been on a roll with casting as of late. Even adding Stephen Amell to the cast not too long ago as Casey Jones.  Tyler Perry joins both Megan Fox and Will Arnett from the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie for the upcoming sequel.

Created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has been a part of geek culture for over 30 year’s.  The next Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel doesn’t have a title yet.

The sequel directed by David Green is slated for June 3, 2016 release.

What do you all think of this casting? Tyler Perry is capable of depicting many roles but can he be portray an evil mastermind? Sound off below.
