Rockstar San Diego Working on New Open World Game

The Studio that brought you some of the best open world games last generation have an interesting job posting.

Recently, Rockstar San Diego posted an add looking for “a networking programmer who specializes in the synchronization of the wide range of gameplay mechanics found in a Rockstar open world game.” While not much else is given, the job does require some work with online services like PSN and Xbox Live.

Whatever it is they’re working on, we know it’s open world and it will be available for Sony and Microsoft products. The publisher has kept their E3 plans on the down low, so there’s no word on if this title will have a presence at the summer’s convention.

The studio had a hand in working on the latest Grand Theft Auto entry, after they released Mad Max in 2012. It would be interesting to see another take on one of their big franchises from last generation like Red Dead Redemption or L.A. Noir, but the industry has enough sequels these days. I’d really like to see the creative minds at one of the biggest studios on the planet work on an all new title.

In the meantime, everyone can now speculate! What do you want to see from a new Rockstar open world game? Let us know in the comments!
