EA Q2 Show Strong Numbers For The Publisher

The results for the Q2 for EA are in, and things are looking good. Beyond the numbers the report gives some very exciting facts about the giant publisher.

According the report, EA is now considered the #1 publisher on PlayStation 4 and on the Xbox One in the West this Calendar year due to the strong sales of EA Sports titles such as Fifa and Madden NFL. Also the monthly average players have increased  30% year over year for Madden.

EA also managed to see the live services for Battlefield Hardline and Battlefield 4 continue to draw players with more than 6 million monthly average players across the two games.

Star Wars: The Old Republic subscribers have increased 33% since the announcement of the new expansion at E3. In more Star Wars related information Star Wars Battlefront managed to attract over 9.5 million players for the beta, making it one of the biggest betas EA has ever had.

Getting to the financials For the quarter, non-GAAP net revenue of $1.146 billion was above guidance of $1.075 billion. Diluted non-GAAP EPS of $0.65 was above guidance of $0.40. EA has also repurchased 1.8 Million shares in Q2 for a total of $126 million.

On a trailing twelve month basis, EA had non-GAAP net revenue of $4.163 billion with $2.307 billion was digital that is a new record. EA also managed a non-GAAP net income of $774 million and operating cash flow of $818 million.

Overall EA is showing strong results, with much of it’s core games showing strong numbers across the board. With Star Wars Battlefront showing such large player base for the beta, even if they manage to retain some of that audience, it will be the game to beat this fall. It is great to see the gaming industry so healthy, it will allow for more new ideas that will only push this industry into new exciting directions.
