Halo 5: Guardians Tops UK Charts

Halo 5: Guardians Tops UK Charts

The sales figures for the UK are in, and Microsoft has managed to beat out Assassin’s Creed to secure the top sales slot.

Even more impressive is the fact that Halo 5 has also managed to earn 50% more sales than the multi-platform behemoth of Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate last week. This is an impressive feat considering that Assassin’s Creed has always been a hard game to beat sales wise, especially since it launches on all major platforms whereas Halo 5 only launched on the Xbox One.

UK chart top 10

  1. Halo 5: Guardians
  2. Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate
  3. FIFA 16
  4. WWE 2K16
  5. Minecraft: Story Mode
  6. Grand Theft Auto 5
  7. Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection
  8. Watch Dogs
  9. Lego Dimensions
  10. Lego Jurassic World

Not everything was perfect for the UK launch, it seems Halo 5 may be one of the lowest selling main games in the series. Looking back at some sales charts and with Halo 5 selling just over 150,000 (approx), it puts it at the lowest in the series history.

For reference:

HALO: COMBAT EVOLVED (MICROSOFT) – NO DATA
HALO 2 (MICROSOFT) – 260,000
HALO 3 (MICROSOFT) – 370,000
HALO WARS (MICROSOFT) – 65,000
HALO 3: ODST (MICROSOFT) – 212,000
HALO: REACH (MICROSOFT) – 390,000
HALO: COMBAT EVOLVED ANNIVERSARY – 48,000
HALO 4 (MICROSOFT) – 336,000
HALO: THE MASTER CHIEF COLLECTION (MICROSOFT) – 96,000
HALO 5: GUARDIANS (MICROSOFT) – 150,000

That being said, it is a game that is reviewing well and has a lot of buzz going into the holiday season, so these numbers do not mean much yet. Also, since this is just for the UK, it could sell very well in North America, where the Halo franchise has a rather big following. It is also important to note that these UK sales figures do not take into account digital downloads. Microsoft is clearly pushing online as a way to purchase the game, so without the release the digital numbers, these figures are only half the picture.
