Didn’t get a Pip-boy? Don’t worry, your phone can still be a Pip-Boy with Bethesda’s new companion app.
Originally set to launch on the same day as Fallout 4, Bethesda has released the Pip-Boy companion app six days early to let players familiarize themselves with the app. The free app will connect to your version of Fallout 4 and create a “two-screen” experience, allowing players to access the in-game menus without pausing their game.
While the app requires Fallout 4 to be truly useful, there is a demo version that allows you to get the basic feel for how the app will work, and it’s pretty seamless. Being able to switch between menus, check quests or a map without having to pause the game every three seconds will definitely make the game more enjoyable, and it even lets you play some of the holotape games you can find within Fallout 4.
My only regret is I couldn’t get a Pip-Boy edition to make my experience as immersive as possible (although honestly, I would have never taken it off.)
