Conker is one of those games beloved by some, and hated by others. Built by Rare for the N64 and similar in nature to Mario 64 and other platforms of the day, Conkers Bad Fur Day followed the main character Conker as he goes about his life. The game felt out of place on the Nintendo platform, as it was aimed at adults, and had many jokes, visual gags, etc. that were not fit for children.
Microsoft is reviving the little critter, only this time for Microsoft Hololense. Young Conker is slated to be a platformer that will utilize the unique aspects of the Hololense headset. Built to be one of the few early games for the platform, Young Conker will map your room, and craft a platforming environment customized for each specific space.
Utilizing the particular environment, Young Conker will seemingly have endless replayability based on the room or space you are in, and as your room changes, so will the game. It will even allow players to move around the world, and get different experiences as their view of the world alters.
Seemingly removing all adult oriented content Young Conker is a much more clean version of the character, opting for the unique Hololense experience over the humor to invite people into the experience.
In a statement about games on the Hololense Tsunoda wrote: “This means every person gets a unique gameplay experience since each gamer’s real world environment is unique. It is amazing how different the play experience feels based on playing the game in your living room versus your kitchen or your bedroom. Even starting the game from a different position in a single room creates an entirely new gameplay dynamic.”
Young Conker is slated to be a launch game for the platform and will be launching alongside RoboRaid and Fragments. There is as of yet no price point on the home version of Hololense, although the developer edition will cost around $3,000 with preorders now live.
