id Software co-founders John Romero and Adrian Carmack launched a new Kickstarter for a new FPS, titled Blackroom.
Developed by Night Work Games, Blackroom is a throwback to classic FPS game design with high speed, rocket jump-filled gameplay. The game features a ten-hour campaign, as well as co-op, deathmatch and arena multiplayer modes. Players take the role of Santiago Sonora, an engineer from a holographic simulation company named HOXAR. When the holograms start merging with the real world, it’s up to Santiago to investigate.
The game is seeking $700,000 in funding. The higher-tiered rewards include participating in a tournament against Romero and other backers, designing some of the props, creatures and weapon mods in the game, and attending the game’s launch party.
If the Kickstarter is successful, the developers hope for a Winter 2018 launch on PC and Mac. More details on the game will be provided on the Kickstarter page.
