The immensely popular World of Tanks MMO is making its way to a new platform, but not the video game players may be used to.
Wargaming, developers of WoT, and Dark Horse Comics officially announced a partnership on April 25 to begin production on a comic series based on the game called World of Tanks: Roll Out! The comic will span five issues and begin distribution across the US and Europe in the fall of 2016.
Filling in the speech bubbles for the comic will be the job of Garth Ennis, the writer for comic series such as Vertigo, Preacher, and a nine-year run with The Punisher. Illustrations for the comic will be done by Carlos Ezquerra, co-creator of the Judge Dredd comics and has worked with Ennis on numerous projects including Bloody Mary and Just a Pilgrim.
According to the press release, World of Tanks: Roll Out! will take place in a post D-Day Normandy in the summer of 1944. It will feature the armoured units of the British Cromwells taking on the German Panthers, as the British attempt to push deeper into the heart of France against the might of the German tanks.
World of Tanks is a free-to-play MMO available on platforms such as PC, Xbox One, PS4, and mobile with over 120 million registered players globally.
