Video game collectors can rest easy buying the next installment in the adorably violent Worms franchise. Not only will the game be released digitally, the game will also hit store shelves.
With physical copies of games becoming more of a rarity, collectors’ have fewer games to proudly display in their man or womancave. This is especially true with smaller games and indie games, and even some Worms games have been exclusively available in a digital format.
Developer Team17 announced today it will be bringing its upcoming Worms W.M.D to store shelves with distribution partner Sold Out.
This is exciting news for players, especially those who prefer physical copies. Even for those that opt to purchase the game digitally, the decision to push the game to retail shows the confidence Team17 has for Worms W.M.D. Digital games are simply cheaper to distribute, and most developers don’t go that extra mile until they’re sure it will sell.
CEO of Sold Out Garry Williams says Worms W.M.D will be the best-selling entry in the Worms franchise to date.

Worms W.M.D certainly looks to be a game-changer, with the ability to use new vehicles and even enter buildings, both of which are a franchise first.
Players will be able to rain down bullets on the worms below using the helicopter vehicle, or quickly travel across the map in tanks, while also protecting worms and packing some heavy fire power.

Worms W.M.D will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC later this year, both digitally and physically.
