The Final Fantasy XV hype-train continues as Sony published a new teaser trailer for Square Enix’s upcoming, feature length, companion movie Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV. The trailer gives us a glimps into some of the events that come before Final Fantasy XV – “a kingdom protected by a crystal, an empire of powerful machines. They must fight to secure the throne; all for the future king.” Produced by Hajime Tabata and directed by Takeshi Nozue, with scenario is written by Takashi Hasegawa, the team behind Final Fantasy VII: Advent Childeren, Kingsglaive is an eagerly anticipated piece of the Final Fantasy XV puzzle.

Earlier this week, Square Enix revealed some of voice actors to appear in Kingsglaive; Sean Bean as King Regis Lucis Caelum CXIII, Lena Headey as Lunafreya Nox Fleuret and Aaron Paul as Nyx Ulric. Unfortunatly, these actors will not return during Final Fantasy XV, due to the budgetary limitations.

The story follows Nyx Ulrich and his fellow Kingsglaives, who must protect the hallowed kingdom of Insomnia’s Crystal from the overwhelming invading forces of the Nifilheim Empire. Seeing the impending doom before him, King Regis must salvage his kingdom through a forced ultimatum – hand over the land outside the crown city, and force his son into a marriage with a princess held captive by the empire.

Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV will be released in Japan on July 9, 2016. For those of us in North America, it will be available via stream and download before Final Fantasy XV’s release, and included as a Blu-ray in the Deluxe Edition and Ultimate Collector’s Edition of Final Fantasy XV, which will be released on September 30, 2016. Until then, check out the trailers bellow.
