Injustice 2 Officially Announced Ahead Of E3

Pre-E3 week is well under way with yet another major game announcement before the big event starts.

Though previously leaked with a poster, NetherRealm Studios announced Injustice 2, a follow up to the hit 2013 fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us, with a trailer. According to the YouTube description and a press release, the sequel will allow players to personalize their favourite DC Comics superheroes and supervillains with “unique and powerful gear.”

The story continues what was introduced in Injustice: Gods Among Us, following Batman and his allies as they continue to rebuild society while others want to restore Superman’s regime. However, amidst the chaos, a new threat appears that puts the entire planet at risk.

“Expanding the DC Universe in games continues to be one of our top priorities, and Injustice 2 showcases amazing gameplay and an original story to bring the characters to life for players,” said David Haddad, President of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. In addition, the game will house the biggest roster ever offered in a DC fighting game and battles will spread across many iconic locations in the DC universe.

As a celebration of the announcement, players of the Injustice: Gods Among Us mobile game (available on both the App Store and Google Play) will be able to unlock the Injustice 2 versions of Superman and Aquaman through in-game challenge modes. Injustice 2 will release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017.
