XSEED Games Announces Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns 1

There’s a lot to celebrate today, the insanely popular farming sim RPG franchise, Story of Seasons (formally Harvest Moon), has turned 20 and is kicking off this milestone with a new game to the series. XSEED Games, the console publishing brand of Marvelous USA Inc., announced their latest installment, Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns

Trio of Towns will be set in the middle of three unique locals and players will be able to explore the diverse landscape and farms will be completely customizable. Each village will offer its own unique crops, people, animals, décor and much more. The game will also allow players to connect with each other locally or over the internet for chat, trade and transforming items on a multiplayer island.

To sweeten the deal Trio of Towns’ predecessor, Story of Seasons, will have a permanent price drop to $29.99. The fantasy-RPG spinoff series’ latest installment, Rune Factory 4, will also see the same price drop. Trio of Towns is also offering a pre-order bonus of a capybara pocket plushie.

“We feel incredibly fortunate to have such an amazing fan base for these games,” said Ken Berry, Executive Vice President of Marvelous USA. Story of Seasons has currently sold more than 150,000 units in North America and Rune Factory 4 selling 200,000.

The news should be making players giddy as newcomers to the series won’t be starved for content and older fans will finally get the creativity they’ve longed for. No two farms will look the same and players can help each other and compare their farms. The price drop of Story of Seasons and Rune Factory 4 should also see an influx of sales as new players make their way into the series without hurting their wallets.

Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns will be released in early 2017 for the Nintendo 3DS. Here’s hoping that the game outsells its predecessor in both sales and popularity.
