3DS users have another reason to be excited as Nintendo announced the debut of a new Pikachu themed 3DS XL, their 2017 line up and some “Selects” titles.
The handheld system will be available on store shelves across Canada on Feb. 24, 2017 priced at $239.99 (CAD). The 3DS XL will be decked out in yellow with a drawing of Pikachu on the cover.
Nintendo of Canada’s General Manager and Senior Director Pierre-Paul Trepanier says the Nintendo 3DS is a portal to one of a kind Nintendo adventures starring classic characters like Mario, Yoshi, and all of their friends.
“Our hit system offers a wide variety of memorable experiences for adventurers of all ages,” said Trepanier.
According to Nintendo, the company is coming off the most successful quarter of software sales in Nintendo 3DS history fueled by the record breaking sales of the Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon games.
Nintendo has also announced a lineup of new games for the Nintendo 3DS for 2017. This includes Tank Troopers, Mario Sports Superstars, and Pikmin for Nintendo 3DS.
Tank Troopers will launch exclusively in the Nintendo eShop on Feb. 16, 2017. According to Nintendo, players storm the battlefield in one of 36 customizable tanks. The game supports up to six players battling each other in teams or free for all in local multiplayer matches.
Mario Sports Superstars will be available on March 24, 2017. There will also be amiibo themed Mario Sports Superstars cards launched the same day and one amiibo card will be included in each 3DS game for a limited time only.
Pikmin for Nintendo 3DS is scheduled to launch sometime in 2017. Nintendo says the game is a side scrolling adventure that introduces new players to the adorable Pikmin and their unique abilities, while challenging long time fans to navigate a strange new world.
Lastly, Nintendo announced Kirby Triple Deluxe and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team will join the Nintendo Selects lineup priced at $29.99 (CAD). The games will arrive in stores mid-February joining the existing lineup of Nintendo 3DS select games such as Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Yoshi’s New Island.
