Fans itching to jump back into the 40,000 Universe won’t have to wait much longer as developer Relic Entertainment in conjunction with publisher Sega, announced Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III releases April 27, 2017.
“We’re thrilled to tell fans that they don’t have to wait much longer to return to battle,” said Game Director of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III Philippe Boulle. “The whole team can’t wait to bring back Dawn of War, bigger and better than ever. April can’t come soon enough!”
Along with a release date, Relic and Sega revealed Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III will be available in multiple formats. The first is the “Collector’s Edition,” which includes a disc book, art card, soundtrack, a replica of the Godsplitter Daemon Hammer, three faction banners, and a skin pack. The second bundle is the “Limited Edition” pack which includes the disk book, art card and soundtrack. The third is the “Standard Edition” which is just the game. To give fans a little extra incentive, Sega and Relic also showed off a new pre-order trailer as well.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III is the eighth entry in the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War series. Critically acclaimed, and boasting a strong community, over the series has sold eight million copies, which is a pretty strong number for a Real Time Strategy series. The Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III brings players back to the 41st millennium, players are able to take control of a race of their choosing, fighting for galactic control.
The Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War franchise is based on the products designed by Games workshop. Starting as a table-top RPG, the franchise has since evolved, dipping its toes in almost every medium imaginable. Keeping with that tradition, the video games span multiple genres, with mostly positive fan reactions, so hopefully, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III will be able to live up to those expectations come April 27.
