DLC is a nice way to keep fans engaged in a title long after its initial release. While some may argue the flaws of downloadable content, most won’t argue when it’s free. That’s why fans of Ubisoft’s Watch Dog’s 2 will be happy to know they’re getting some new content for no charge, along with some that will be paid for.
Unveiled in an Ubisoft release titled “Watch Dogs 2 content Roadmap 2017,” the French publisher outlined content for Watch Dogs 2 into June this year. In April, fans will receive a free update that includes races for the drone, motocross and eKarts with multiplayer leaderboards, along with a loot “truck even”t challenge. Along with this, players can play “Showd0wn,” a new team based PVP online mode with three different match types. The first is a “King of the Hill” inspired bout called ”Doomland”, the others are a little more straightforward with “Steal the HDD” and “Erase/Protect.”
“There are two main drivers behind making ‘Showd0wn’ free for all of our players,” says Watch Dogs 2’s live producer, Kris Young in a press release on Ubiblog. “The first is that we want everyone to be able to participate and play it. We really wanted to have as many people as possible playing the mode for a better challenge, better matchmaking time and quality, and a healthier, more active community. “The other is community feedback we’ve received since we announced the original plans.”
In May, “No Compromise” DLC hits for players to access via Season Pass or for purchase. According to Ubisoft, it will contain content to replace showdown and include a new multi-mission storyline. Along with this, “No Compromise” contains three emergency services packs that allow Marcus to disguise himself as a paramedic, firefighter or police officer.
