Persona 5 Ships Over One Million Copies

It has only been a few days since Persona 5 hit stores worldwide (excluding Japan who had access to the game in September of last year), and it has already become a global phenomenon. Atlus, the developer of the game, officially announced how many copies have already been shipped throughout North America and Europe.

In a press release, the company confirmed that they have already shipped over 1.5 million copies of the game worldwide. The massive success that this game has already garnered, has also led to a Persona live concert that will take place in Japan on August 2 (in Yokohoma at the Yokohoma Arena).

This number should not be at all surprising as Persona 5 has already received critical acclaim from a vast majority of review sites. Critics and fans agree that the drama, presentation, style and gameplay in this RPG are breathtaking. The game’s greatness has led it to be the fastest-selling title in the series history.

For those who have not yet experienced this global masterpiece, it is centred on the theme of youth who live dual lives. In what sounds like a scenario that would come straight from an anime (which is not surprising as it is based in Japan), several Tokyo high schoolers live standard day to day lives. They attend school, partake in activities afterwards and work part-time jobs. However, the true excitement comes when they enter the souls of other people awakening their Persona powers.

Gameplay wise, it works like a traditional RPG in which a party goes into battles with various enemies. Combining RPG elements, though, are some social simulation scenarios along with a focus on exploration. Fans of this style should get their hands on this today, as it has already been dubbed one of the greatest of its kind. It is available for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. However, the PlayStation 4 version has a Take Your Heart Premium Edition (which is for a limited time) that includes a steel book, soundtrack CD, 64-page art book, school bag, collectable box, and plush.
