Yet again, Xbox has introduced another game onto its Xbox One system. No, this is not referring to a brand-new game for the console; rather another title that belonged on the Xbox 360. Thanks to Microsoft’s inception of backward compatibility with the Xbox One (digitally), several classic Xbox 360 titles have been playable on the system. Today, another one joined the massive library.
Announced via press release, Microsoft has confirmed Call of Duty: Black Ops II would be making its way onto the Xbox One backward compatibility library of games. This will join more than 350 games currently in the collection; including Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: World at War.
For anyone who currently owns the original game, this experience will be free of charge. However, for those who do not, it will be on sale through April 17,2017. Xbox Live Gold members and non-members will save 60 percent and 50 percent on the blockbuster, respectively.
When Call of Duty: Black Ops II was originally released it was met with above-average reviews from several critics across the web. During its era, it was a fairly revolutionary entry into the franchise. For one, it introduced several futuristic technologies that became staples in later entries. As opposed to previous titles that were heavily-linear based, Black Ops II also branched storylines to ensure that the player had multiple options at their disposal.
In the future, Tuttle noted how fans should stay alerted as they are always listening to their fans to bring more Xbox 360 games to the Xbox One. With Project Scorpio, already being announced, Tuttle also hinted that Call of Duty: Black Ops II would be making its way onto that platform, as well.
