Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the Fastest-Selling Mario Kart Ever

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the Fastest-Selling Mario Kart Ever 1

Announced in a press release, at 459,000 combined sales in the United States (on its launch date) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the fastest-selling in the franchise.

Prior to this, Mario Kart Wii was the record holder with sales of around 433,900 on its launch date. If that was not surprising enough, the press release also revealed that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has received more perfect scores from various video game review sites than any other entry.

For those who have been living under a rock for the last couple of months and do not know, this entry is an enhanced version of Mario Kart 8. Outside of graphical improvements, there are loads of gameplay changes. But, the core mechanics remain mostly untouched. First, numerous characters were added to the already enormous roster of characters. The inclusions were King Boo, Dry Bones, Bowser Jr., Gold Mario, Inkling Boy and Inkling Girl.

However, the most notable update to this port is the revamped Battle Mode; which is one of the main reasons to purchase this version. The Battle Mode in Mario Kart 8 was laughable and Nintendo clearly made it a goal to improve on it. Adding the best mode in the franchise’s history, Bob-omb Blast was a great way to achieve this. But, (while in the original racing tracks were used as the Battle Mode tracks) there are also tracks exclusive to this mode that were added. With the most noteworthy being the return of Luigi’s Mansion from Mario Kart: Double Dash.
