Baldur’s Gate To Receive Brand New Board Game 2

Baldur’s Gate will be receiving a new board game inspired by the renowned fantasy RPG, from Dungeons & Dragons and Avalon Hill. The new board game will be based on the award-winning Betrayal at House on the Hill. Betrayal at Baldur’s Gate promises to give players the chance to explore, build and survive within the iconic city from all manners of sinister evil. The new board game is being worked on by the Wizards of the Coast team, with design lead, Mike Mearls who has published numerous Dungeons & Dragons handbooks.

Betrayal at Baldur’s Gate will include the following:

  • 50 brand new scenarios set in the world of the Forgotten Realms
  • 47 new location tiles, including buildings, streets, and catacombs
  • 86 new cards, including 22 items, 45 events, and 13 omens
  • 18 new monsters to encounter including minotaurs, beholders, and dragons
  • 12 D&D adventurers including a dwarf barbarian, half-orc paladin, and human sorcerer
  • 6 plastic adventurer figures

Within the 50 new scenarios, the game promises to meld together the best elements of classic Dungeons and Dragons with the iconic trappings from the Baldur’s Gate video game series in one epic board game that will be sure to please both fans of traditional board games and video games alike. Fans can look forward to the likes of contending against a Sphere of Annihilation, hungry sladds that devour their foes from the inside and having to deal with random events such as suddenly having a second head sprouting out of the body that demands to take the lead.

Shell Mazzanoble, the brand manager for Avalon Hill said “The core of both D&D and Betrayal is story, exploration, and (mostly) working together so this was a pretty seamless mash-up because this is a D&D experience, you’ll see more cooperative haunts than in the original game. But it’s also Baldur’s Gate so there is definitely some double-dealing treachery going down.”

Betrayal at Baldur’s Gate will be available October 6th, 2017.
