The wait is finally over, the first of two DLC packs for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is now available on both the Wii U and Switch!
Nintendo allowed players to purchase the Expansion Pass in advance, a bundle that features the just released Master Trials DLC pack and one set to release by the end of the year. The package will set you back $28.19 CAD.
So what’s included in today’s big update? One of the more highlighted additions is the all new Master Mode, a harder difficulty that ramps up the enemy tiers and allows enemies to regenerate health. Don’t be surprised to see one of the fierce Lynel enemies showing up a little bit earlier in this playthrough.
Trials of the Sword is a lengthy new mission that challenges you to complete 45 rooms of enemies and bosses with nothing but the items you find on each floor. Dying is not an option! You’ll need to have found the Master Sword in order to access this side quest. Completing it will allow you to fully power up the legendary blade.
A couple of new pieces of armour found their way into this DLC pack, including the ancient Majora’s Mask and the fabled Midna’s Helmet. Players can also look forward to finding the different pieces to the nice and tight Tingle’s Outfit, along with the Phantom Armour inspired by Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. Finding all this gear will not be so easy as they are scattered in chests found throughout Hyrule.
The Travel Medallion was also added, allowing you to pick any location on the map and make it a fast travel point. Keep in mind you can only place one at a time. The new Hero’s Path allows you to view your map and see every path you took in the last 200 hours. And yes, this works for everything you’ve done prior to downloading the DLC!
The Master Trials DLC was released today for both the Wii U and Switch. The second batch of DLC for Zelda is expected to hit by the end of 2017.
