Creative Assembly Announces Total War: Saga 2

A new spin-off of Creative Assembly’s Total War series is currently in the works.

The developers behind the Total War franchise have announced their new plans for the series. The company’s next game will be launched under the title Total War Saga. Creative Assembly promises that the game will prove to be a busy time for historical strategy fans. The game’s director, Jack Lusted, explained that this is a new class of Total War games. Total War Saga will build on previous titles, continuing to focus on pivotal moments in different eras. The first Total War Saga game will continue from Rome II to Atilla.

The Total War franchise combines turn-based strategy and resource management with real-time tactical controls for battle. Beginning with Shogun: Total War, games in the series have been located in different places such as medieval Europe and Rome. In addition to Total War Saga, Creative Assembly has created a variety of spin-off titles in the past. These games often take the historical battles that the series is known for and presents them in new ways, often changing the genre.

Creative Assembly most recently found success with the Total War: Warhammer series. Developed as the first entry in the series to use a fictional world, Total War: Warhammer blends its traditional gameplay with Game Workshop’s Warhammer Fantasy lore. The game released last year on PC and was met with positive response from players and critics. The game was also a commercial success, selling over half a million copies in a few days after releasing.

Total War: Warhammer II is currently planned to release on PC this year. The game uses similar gameplay to what was found in the previous entry, adding additional races and extra content. CGMagazine played Total War: Warhammer II at E3 this year and rewarded the game with our best of E3 strategy game award. Total War: Warhammer II will be available on September 28, 2017.
