ArenaNet has just announced that their MMO, Guild Wars 2, is receiving another expansion this September. Titled Path of Fire, the new expansion will take place right after the end of the last one. The expansion has a release date of September 22, 2017.

Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire will be taking players back to the Crystal Desert from the original Guild Wars as well as to the northern reaches of Elona, the land from Guild Wars: Nightfall. It has been 250 years since players have journeyed to these lands and they are not how players may remember them. If you’re a veteran of Guild Wars or completely new, Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire promises to bring you to magic-filled deserts, ancient temples, and beautiful oases.

Players have long thought that the human gods have left the world, but one now walks amongst us. Blathazar, the human god of fire and war, has raised an army and is threatening the very fabric of the world. Through Living World Season 3, players saw how committed Balthazar is to hunting Elder Dragons and now here in the Crystal Desert he has arrived to do just that. The fate of Tyria rests in players’ hands as they rush to stop Balthazar before he does any more damage to the delicate balance of magic.

Along with the new story, players are getting the chance to ride mounts for the first time. Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire is bringing four new mounts that players will be able to tame and upgrade through the max-level Mastery character progression system. Each mount brings with it a unique way to traverse the land and players will need the help of all four of them if they want to see the entirety of the Crystal Desert.

Alongside the new zone and companions, players will also be able to unlock new specializations for their classes.

Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire is available for pre-purchase now and will be released on September 22, 2017. You can check out the new expansion, here.
