A stunt driver has died while shooting on the set for Deadpool 2 in Vancouver, Canada.

The  Deadpool 2 accident occurred during Monday morning, during a motorcycle stunt near Jack Poole Plaza, which is located near the downtown waterfront in Vancover.  CTV News reports have stated that witnesses saw the stunt woman losing control of her motorbike, crashing through a window pane, across the street at the Shaw Tower.

Recent reports from Deadline have revealed the identity of the stunt-woman who lost her life, Joi ‘SJ’ Harris, was doing her first film as a stun performer, she also had the title of being the first female African American professional road racer.

Harris was promptly loaded into an Advanced Life support ambulance, which remained on scene, presumably in the hopes of trying to resuscitate or otherwise help the stunt woman. Crew and onlookers were on sight, until the ambulance finally left, with sirens turned off.  Ryan Reynolds, who plays the titular mercenary with a mouth, took to Twitter to address the somber situation:

“We’re heartbroken, shocked and devastated,” the star wrote, “but recognize nothing can come close to the grief and inexplicable pain her family and loved ones must feel in this moment. My heart pours out to them – along with each and every person she touched in this world.”

Cause of death has not been released at this time, WorkSafe BC is currently in the process of piecing together the tragic event, additionally they have issued a statement in which they said the last stunt related fatality occurred in 1996, when a parachute failed to open during a helicopter dive.

Nathan Kramchynski, a worker inside the Shaw Building saw the stuntwoman practice several times, when asked about the incident, he said:

“The last one, it just went really quick and she wobbled out, it was just a thud, she just disappeared [into the building].”

Deadpool 2 began shooting in Vancover back in June, the crew had been filming several motorcycle sequences prior to the Deadpool 2 accident, which occurred Monday morning.

Over here at CGmagazine, we would like to the take a moment to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and crew members of Joi ‘’SJ’’ Harris who lost her life, early Monday morning.
