Master of Orion, the classic 1993 computer game is back in tabletop form.
Catalyst Game Labs have acquired the license to the renowned Master of Orion franchise and have transformed the beloved title to an upcoming table top experience. The upcoming title will first launch with the dueling deckbuilder: Master of Orion: Conquest set, which is being described as a “galaxy crushing’’ experience.
Those unfamiliar with the franchise, the most recent entry into the series was helmed by Wargaming Labs: Master of Orion: Conquer the Stars, the title featured immersive gameplay and even garnered a nomination for the 34th Annual Golden Joystick Award for best PC Game 2016.
Thanks to the recent partnership between Catalyst Game Labs and Wargaming Labs, the renowned PC strategy title will be reimagined as a tabletop card game. Michael Buonagurio, Special Projects & Research Manager, for Wargaming Labs had this to say:
“Wargaming Labs is proud to partner with Catalyst Game Labs to deliver the universe of Master of Orion to tabletop gamers with the first product; the Master of Orion: Conquest deck building game. The wealth of experience Catalyst brings to the project will now deliver this venerable and loved video game to a new audience of gaming communities.”
Additionally, Loren Coleman, Owner of Catalyst Game Labs, said:
“Anyone who has ever lost a large piece of their soul to a 4x game understands their appeal,” said Loren Coleman, Owner of Catalyst Game Labs. “And Master of Orion rates among the best. Focusing on fleet engagements, Conquest brings X-termination to the fore!”
