CD Projekt Red Defend Against Negative Rumors

CD Projekt Red Defend Against Negative Rumors

Polish developer CD Projekt Red released a statement today, shedding some light on the current state of the company.

After a slew of negative reviews left on the anonymous review site Glassdoor, many have begun to question whether or not the studio behind The Witcher franchise treats its employees well behind closed doors. The company addressed the topic today in a letter posted to their official Twitter, hopefully clearing up any concerns.

“We’d normally avoid commenting on company reviews on spaces like Glassdoor, but this time around – especially in light of the fact we haven’t communicated anything about Cyberpunk 2077 for a long time and saw some gamers getting worried about the project – we’d like to elaborate on a few things.” wrote co-founder Marcin Iwinski and CD Projeckt Red studio head Adam Badowski.

One of the main points addressed in the open letter is the sheer size of the studio. Since the release of The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt in 2015, CD Projekt Red has nearly doubled its staff list with over 400 members on board.

“It boils down to CD Projekt Red being a lot larger than it used to be – twice the 200-person size of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt development – and having an uncompromising stance about what it wants to make.

Every role-playing game we ever developed seemed impossible to achieve at the moment we set out to create it … [but] even if something feels impossible, it doesn’t mean it is. As it turns out, most often things are perfectly possible, they just require a lot of faith, commitment and spirit,”

Even with the higher than normal number of negative reviews left on the site, other anonymous reviewers have recently jumped to the studio’s defense, even going as far as attacking the Glassdoor website for hosting fake reviews.

“All I have to say here is that a lot if not all of these reviews below are fake. We often talked to our staff and made sure they are perfectly happy working there. If anything was missing, we’d make sure we had a plan to at least implement it.” wrote one of the most recent anonymous reviewers.

Along with their statement on the recent reviews, CD Projekt Red also ensured that nothing has gotten in the way of the development of their next game, Cyberpunk 2077, and that it is slowly moving along.

Esports Comes to Shake Up Northern California: Meet the San Francisco Shock

Esports Comes to Shake Up Northern California: Meet the San Francisco Shock

The Overwatch League‘s San Francisco franchise reveals
official name and logo ahead of inaugural season

The Bay Area’s rich tradition of innovation and advancement rolls on
with San Francisco’s newest professional sports team: the San Francisco
Shock. The Shock will represent San Francisco in Blizzard
Entertainment’s new global professional esports league, the Overwatch
League™.

“There is no better market to establish as the epicenter of esports than
San Francisco,” said Andy Miller, Founder and CEO of NRG Esports, parent
organization of the San Francisco Shock. “We are so excited to bring a
hometown esports team to the region that has been central to the growth
of gaming in North America.”

The Overwatch League from Blizzard Entertainment is the first major
esports league to feature a city-based franchise structure. Twelve
franchises from around the world, including the San Francisco Shock,
will make up the teams for the inaugural season. Built from the
ground-up for online and team competition, Overwatch® is Blizzard’s
fastest game to reach 35 million players.

The SF Shock chose its name and logo to represent the seismic energy and
activity of the region. The seismograph logo is presented in gold,
honoring San Francisco’s historic gold rush heritage. The seismograph
waveform presents itself as a silhouette of the Bay Bridge, an iconic
structure connecting the City to the East Bay.

“We took great care to choose a logo and identity that would both
represent the attributes and traditions of San Francisco, yet at the
same time speak to the future of sports and the Shock’s ambitions to
take its place as a fixture next to the Bay Area’s championship sports
teams,” said Miller.

Esports are rapidly growing in popularity throughout the U.S. and
globally, with the category expected to grow
to a $1.5 billion industry in the next three years
, according to
market intelligence firm Newzoo1.

SF Shock parent organization NRG Esports has competed at the highest
level of Overwatch competition since the game’s inception. “As one of
NRG’s most popular teams, Overwatch has captured our fans’ imagination
and attention from day one,” said Brett Lautenbach, President of NRG
Esports. “We are excited to build the definitive esports experience for
our hometown fans in San Francisco with live matches, amateur events,
and gaming lifestyle experiences.”

The Overwatch League begins preseason play on December 6, with a series
of exhibition matches featuring all 12 teams. The regular season will
begin on January 10 and run into June, with playoffs and finals in July
2018. For more information on the Overwatch League, visit overwatchleague.com.

For more information on the San Francisco Shock, follow the team on
Twitter @SFShock.

TEAM17 AND PETROGLYPH REVEAL FORGED BATTALION

TEAM17 AND PETROGLYPH REVEAL FORGED BATTALION

[PRESS RELEASE]  Innovative new real-time strategy game puts you in command
of your unique fighting force

Award-winning international games label Team17 today announced that it has partnered with Westwood Studios and Command & Conquer veterans Petroglyph Games to bring Forged Battalion, an innovative and dynamic take on the classic RTS genre, to Steam Early Access in early 2018.

In Forged Battalion players will build and customize their own unique faction as they fight in a variety of skirmish, solo, and multiplayer battles. They are not only a commander, but also an engineer – so they have ultimate control over their faction’s units, factories, superweapons and economy.

Towards the end of the 21st century, the effects of climate change have devastated the world and a military force called “The Collective” has spread across the globe. As part of the resistance group against this aggressive enemy, it’s time for you to join the fight!

Manage, customize and develop the blueprints of your emerging faction to create ever-evolving factories and units. Using resources gained in battle, you’ll unlock new options through the metagame tech tree allowing you to choose the archetype, armor, locomotor, weapons, and special abilities such as stealth and regeneration that will make your faction one of a kind. As more technology is unlocked, your designs become more advanced and ultimately, you will have access to the most powerful options, including an array of deadly superweapons to launch against your foes.

Key Features:

  • Forge Your Faction – Modify every unit chassis (Infantry, Light Vehicle, Heavy Vehicle, Aircraft) with a host of weapons, support and locomotor types. Add regenerative armor to your light vehicle, or add an anti-tank gun to your aircraft. Adapt to every situation, and every opponent.
  • Persistent Tech tree – Each battle you fight, in each mode, contributes towards your faction’s technology upgrades with different science paths; advancing the tech tree unlocks blueprints.
  • A dynamic story campaign – The resistance needs you to forge a new force to be reckoned with. Play through an exciting story campaign that will test your ability to react and adapt to the increasing threat of the ‘The Collective’.
  • Online multiplayer – Join up to seven other players in a variety of online multiplayer modes for intense tactical co-operative and versus action on dedicated servers.
  • Steam Workshop support

Though the Command & Conquer veterans are hugely experienced in the genre, the team at Petroglyph want building Forged Battalion to be a truly collaborative process with real-time strategy fans and is anticipating that the game will be in Early Access for approximately six months.

Planned Early Access Launch Content:

  • At least five Campaign missions comprising the first act of a multi-act storyline
  • At least five Skirmish maps supporting up to eight players
  • Multiple Skirmish game modes including HQ Destruction and Annihilation
  • Dedicated servers to support multiplayer

Forged Battalion will be entering Steam Early Access in early 2018
