HTC Vive and the World Economic Forum (WEF) have announced a partnership for the future of VR/AR for Impact.

Originally introduced at WEF 2017, VR/AR for Impact is more than a 10 million dollar program. Its purpose is to drive VR and AR content to create positive impact and change in support of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

“The challenges our world faces today have never been greater, and humanity needs a clearer understanding and guidance to help solve global issues,” said Cher Wang, Chairwoman and CEO, HTC. “Unlike any other medium, Virtual Reality is able to immerse the global audience in literally any experience, and can help us learn, empathize and transform the world. VR/AR for Impact is a unique way of driving critical awareness toward problems and solutions facing mankind.”

WEF will support the VR/AR for Impact initiative going forward and HTC will continue to design and create experiences using VR/AR technology. During this week HTC will be demonstrating VR/AR experiences at WEF.

The six experiences that will be available at WEF range from demonstrating well-fitting prosthetics in low-income countries, to the struggle of a common honey bee, to a tragic tale of a rainforest tree and many others.
