DMG Entertainment Acquires Valiant Entertainment

DMG Entertainment Acquires Valiant Entertainment 1

DMG Entertainment, the company behind films such as Looper and Chappaquiddick, has acquired Valiant Entertainment with the intention of creating their own cinematic universe to compete alongside that of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the DC Expanded Universe (DCEU).

While not quite as well known as Marvel or DC, Valiant still has a large lineup of characters for DMG to work with, with big titles such as X-O ManowarBloodshot, and Ninjak available to them.

DMG founder and CEO, Dan Mintz, already had a large stake in Valiant, having a 57% stake in the company before outright purchasing the comic book company.

Mintz clearly has a lot of plans for the company, as he said, “You can expect more strong storytelling with a defined road to other platforms. I’m also looking forward to bringing the writers close to the filmmaking process, which is something that is also important, and not keeping them siloed into the comic book area.”

Mintz also went on to mention that he would like to get Valiant into the gaming industry, as well as maybe even getting involved in the theme park business.

Properties of Valiant, such as Bloodshot and Harbinger, are already being adapted to film by Sony, with Bloodshot set to have Vin Diesel as it’s lead. It also has Dr. Mirage and Quantum and Woody being adapted for television by the CW and CBS respectively.

While it may not be as big as Marvel or DC, Valiant has a set fanbase that will be excited to see their favourite comic book heroes come to life on the big screen.
