Cortana is Making Her Way to Mobile Outlook

Microsoft’s digital assistant Cortana, may be making her way to Outlook on iOS and Android platforms.

Microsoft have been adding more features to its email intelligence program, and until now the company has resisted integrating Cortana with Outlook. According to The Verge, this is going to change. Microsoft is currently testing Cortana and trying to sync up the assistant with Outlook on iOS and Android platforms.

Cortana will allow users to listen and respond to emails on Outlook through voice commands. Users will be able to ask Cortana things like “what’s my email,” or ask the program to relay messages from certain contacts. Cortana will make the conscious decision to remind you of any pre made plans you made through your emails.

The digital assistant was released back in 2014 on Windows, iOS, Android and Xbox OS. Cortana is able to set reminders, keep location data and manage your contacts. Users are also able to issue voice commands to Cortana, like checking the weather or researching a topic online. Cortana is named after a character that appeared in the renowned Halo series. In the games, Cortana is an artificial intelligence that accompanied the main character and assisted him with whatever he needed.

Outlook is a web-based agenda that manages projects, emails, contacts and tasks. The site was created in 2012 and since become a popular platform to manage work and personal life. Outlook is an app that is available on both iOS and Android platforms.

At the moment, Microsoft is testing out Cortana with Outlook internally. If the feedback meets their requirements, then Microsoft will release a beta to the public on iOS and Android.
