Today’s Nintendo Direct was chalk full of surprises and game announcements! Here’s everything you need to know about the Nintendo Direct that was.

First Party Titles

Smash Bros. Switch Version 

How Super Smash Bros Reinvented The Genre While Transcending It 7

The rumours were actually true! Super Smash Bros. is coming to Nintendo Switch and everyone’s favourite Squid Kids will be joining the battle. The trailer didn’t show much but we did get a glimpse of Mario as well as Link wearing his Breathe of The Wild outfit. It is unclear if the upcoming game will be a remake of the Wii U version or an entirely new game but we should hear more about it at E3 2018.

Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition

Everything Announced In Today'S Nintendo Direct 3

Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition also received a release date and will feature all the DLC content from all versions of the game. The game will release on May 18, 2018.

Captain Toad Treasure Tracker

A number of ports were announced today including Captain Toad’s Treasure Tracker for Nintendo Switch. The game will feature the full Wii U game as well as new Super Mario Odyssey inspired levels. It’s scheduled to release on July 13th, 2018.

Mario Tennis Aces

More information about Mario Tennis Aces has been revealed as the game will include more than 15 playable characters including Chain Chomp and Waluigi. There will be a number of different shot types such as basic shot, topspin, slice, and a lob to name a few. Along with them, the game is introducing a new stop-motion zone shot, that lets you aim more precisely. The game will also feature online tournaments and a story mode when it launches on June 22nd, 2018.

Splatoon 2 DLC

A whole slew of new content is coming to Splatoon 2 in the form of its first-ever paid DLC. The DLC will add a new story experience when it launches for $19.99 at a later date.

Kirby Star Allies

Kirby Star Allies (Switch) Review 1

Kirby Star Allies launches next week, and you can even team up with King Dedede, Meta Knight, and Bandana Waddledee. More dream friends will also be added in the future as well. The game launches on March 28th with a free demo out now.

Nintendo 3DS Titles

Wario Ware Gold- Nintendo 3Ds

Finally, a new Wario Game is coming out! Wario Ware Gold is billed as the largest Wario Ware game yet and will feature over 300 minigames. The series is known for its unique sense of humor and engaging playstyle. The game is coming to 3DS on August 3rd.

Dillons Dead Heat Breakers

Action meets tower defense, in Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers and you can even team up with your own animalized Mii character. The demo for the game is available on May 10th with the full game on May 24th.

Mario and Luigi Bowsers Inside Story + Bowser Jr.s Journey

Mario and Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story came out originally back in 2009 on Nintendo DS platforms and launched the series. The game is being remade for Nintendo 3DS and will feature an all-new adventure called Bowser Jr.’s Journey. While it was announced today, the game is still a ways off and is scheduled to release in 2019.

Sushi Striker: The Way of Soshido

Perhaps the strangest game of today’s Nintendo Direct, Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido is a puzzle game with a lot of raw fish. Set in a world where sushi is forbidden, your goal is to topple the government and bring sushi back to the masses using sushi conveyor belts. The game is set to release on June 8th, 2018.

Detective Pikachu

Detective Pikachu

Detective Pikachu was released last year in Japan and is finally coming to the west. It is so strange to hear Pikachu voiced by a gruff old man, but it also kind of works! Detective Pikachu launches on March 23rd, 2018 and will follow Detective Pikachu and his human companion Tim. Nintendo also showed off a large Detective Pikachu Amiibo. The game is currently available for pre-purchase on the Nintendo 3DS e-shop.

Luigi’s Mansion 

The original Luigi’s Mansion game which made its debut on Game Cube is coming to Nintendo 3DS later this year. Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon came out in 2013 and is the sequel to the original game. Luigi’s Mansion is set to launch at some point later this year.

 3rd Party Titles

Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy- July 10th

Today’s Nintendo Direct was chalk full of surprising ports and Crash Bandicoot N Sane trilogy was perhaps the most unexpected. It will be the first Crash game on a Nintendo platform in some time and it’s coming out on July 10th of this year.

South Park The Fractured But Whole

South Park: The Fractured But Whole (Nintendo Switch) Review 1

In another surprising port, the recently released South Park Game was also announced for Nintendo Switch. South Park: The Fractured But Whole will feature a seasons pass as well as all of the DLC that has been released as of yet. The game will be hitting store shelves on April 24th, 2018.

Okami HD

Originally released in 2006 on basically every platform, Okami HD came to PlayStation 4 and PC late last year. The game involves using brush strokes to solve puzzles and will utilize the Nintendo Switch’s Joy Con controllers in TV mode and the system’s touchscreen in portable mode. The game is releasing in Summer of 2018.

Little Nightmares Complete Edition

Another indie game that was announced for Nintendo Switch, Little Nightmare’s Complete Edition will feature all downloadable content and updates that the game has received on other platforms. The game is coming to Nintendo Switch on May 18th, 2018 and it’s super creepy.

Undertale

Everything Announced In Today'S Nintendo Direct

The hit indie game Undertale was announced for Nintendo Switch and is coming…eventually. The game’s reveal was short, but we should get more information in the near future.

Project Octopath Traveler

A new trailer for Project Octopath Traveler was shown off and gave new information about a couple of characters. Tressa the Merchant has the ability to purchase special items while Alfyn the apothecary can worm out info from people. On top of that news, Nintendo also announced that there will be a collectors edition of the game when it launches, complete with art book and a special pop-up display. The game will be releasing on July 13th, 2018.

Dark Souls for Switch

Dark Souls for Switch was announced during the last Nintendo direct and new information about the title was revealed today. In the coming weeks, there will be a network test that will give players the opportunity to try the game, although the date hasn’t been announced yet. On top of that, there will be a Solaire of Astoria amiibo releasing when the game launches on May 25, 2018.

Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes

Suda51: “I Want To Out-Weird Everyone” With Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes

Originally announced at the Nintendo Switch reveal event, Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes involves Travis fighting through seven different game titles, with a brutal boss at the end of each one. From an action game to a racing title puzzles and more the game promises to be a unique one. Travis Strikes: No More Heroes is set to launch at some point in 2018.
