Sea of Thieves’ Devs Set Their Own World Record Before Game’s Launch

Sea of Thieves Exciting Limited Adventure: Shrouded Islands Sets Sail Today

As Sea of Theieves’ launch cannons forward, its own developer’s expectations for upcoming players does according, in quite literal ways.

On march 13th, Sea of Thieves’ Developers partnered with David “The Bullet” Smith Jr., professional human cannonball in order to set a record prior to the game’s launch. The developers had one premise in mind: Launching the furthest human cannonball ever. Unfortunately, yet fortunately for our entertainment, this would be done not in the game, but in real life.

After starting a stream on the Xbox Mixer Channel, and preparing the appropriately themed Xbox-canons, David “The Bullet” Smith Jr. followed to break his prior Guinness record. According to Sea of Thieves’ developers, David launched a whopping 195ft, 1.2 more than his previous record of 193.8ft.

While David may not be the perfect pirate just yet, Sea of Thieves’ team hopes that with his latest achievement, players feel motivated to try many of the game’s mechanics when it hits Xbox One and PC on March 20th.

Sea of Thieves is a multiplayer based open-world game based around the themes of pirates, and naval exploration.
