Boss Key Announces 80s-Inspired Battle Royale Shooter Radical Heights

Boss Key Announces 80s-Inspired Battle Royale Shooter Radical Heights 2

Boss Key Productions has announced its next game is a battle royale shooter called Radical Heights, and it will be available on Steam Early Access tomorrow.

Radical Heights is described by the studio as “battle royale with cheese,” and adds game show elements to the battle royale format popularized by PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds and Fortnite. The studio has been working on the game for the past five months and will be self-publishing it without the help of an outside publisher.

Upon its launch, Radical Heights will be free-to-play on Early Access, but those looking to increase their arsenal in-game can purchase the $14.99 Founders Pack to unlock exclusive items and bonuses that aren’t available in the game otherwise. There will be microtransactions, but Boss Key says they will not be “gameplay altering.”

“We’re huge fans of Battle Royale games along with the bright, inviting irreverence of the 80’s aesthetic,” said creative director Zach Lowery in a statement. Because of that, we want to put our own spin on the genre and create a futuristic 80’s world that takes place in 2023 during an over-the-top game show where contestants battle it out for fame and prizes.”

This announcement comes less than a week after Boss Key announced plans to move on from its debut game, LawBreakers after weak sales and player engagement. Radical Heights does seem in-line with several claims made by the studio in this announcement, including its desire to maintain control of the game through self-publishing.
