Boss Key Productions has shutdown, according to a statement from studio head Cliff Bleszinski.
The statement, which Bleszinski posted to his personal Twitter, cited poor sales and player attachment to its debut game Lawbreakers as the determining factor, while also saying that its battle royale inspired shooter Radical Heights, while well-received, didn’t bring in enough income to maintain the studio since it launched last month. While no specific time frame was given, Radical Heights’ servers will stay live for the time being.

Bleszinski founded Boss Key Productions in 2014 following his departure from Epic Games, where he was known for his work on the Gears of War and Unreal Tournament series. Lawbreakers launched on PC and PlayStation 4 last year, but saw a quick decline in players not long after its launch, peaking at just under 7500 players, prompting the studio to end support for it just before Radical Heights’ launch last month.
Radical Heights is available to play as a free-to-play game on Steam, and the studio described the game as “battle royale with cheese,” featuring game show elements to the format popularized by games like PlayerUnknown Battle Grounds and Fortnite. While the game is free, it does feature microtransactions, such as the $14.99 Founders Pack, which includes exclusive items and upgrades not available otherwise.
