In just over a year of its initial release, Nioh has now sold over two million copies worldwide. Team Ninja announced this achievement on Twitter today, thanking their players in continuing to defy death as they hack and slash their way to victory against enemies.

The brutal action game features a lone traveller in the age of the samurai. His goal is to fight his way through vicious foes who are infesting the land. In Complete Edition, Nioh players get the full game, three expansions and can play additional story chapters like Dragon of the North, Defiant Honour and Bloodshed’s End.

While Dragon of the North has players explore the snowy Tohoku region, they are soon faced with a Date Masamune, who has been secretly gathering spirit stones. Nicknamed the “One-Eyed-Dragon” thanks to his missing eye, Nioh players should note that Masamune can nonetheless see the unseen, which includes different types of ‘yokai’ monsters.

In Defiant Honour, Nioh players fight their way through the Siege of Osaka while following the tale of Sanada Yukimura, a Japanese general from the Warring States period. The period draws to a close, however, in Bloodshed’s End, while the summer campaign of the Siege of Osaka features the final chapter of the protagonist, William’s, story.

As another bonus, Nioh players who have bought the game on Steam, or are planning to do so, get to enjoy donning the epic Dharmachakra Kabuto helmet, which is obtainable at a shrine.
