Call of Duty World League Anaheim Open Crowns Rise Nation Champions

Team Rise Nation just got crowned as the Call of Duty World League (CWL) Anaheim Open champions, earning the lion’s share of the $200,000 prize pool.

Presented by PS4, the three-day eSports event featured over 150 teams from across North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region, who gave it their all. It was a close battle against Red Reserve, but Rise Nation captured its third title of the season. Meanwhile, Luminosity Gaming and Unilad found a place in the top four in the CWL Anaheim Open Championship.

With their win, Rise Nation’s roster will also get their names put on a banner in the G FUEL Hall of Champions. There, Tommy “TJHaLy” Haly, Daniel “Loony” Loza, Peirce “Gunless” Hillman, and Austin “Slasher” Liddicoat will be celebrated for their achievements and have a spot in CWL history. Gunless was named the MVP of the championship.

During the CWL Anaheim Open Championship, viewers at the convention centre and online were treated to the Call of Duty Endowment CWL All-Star game. The Call of Duty Endowment is the official charity of the CWL, which fights against veteran unemployment and underemployment. They help veterans find worthwhile and high-quality jobs after their service.

When the All-Star game pitted the players of Division B against a team of Division A players, the former team emerged victorious. The CWL then made a $10,000 donation to the charity on behalf of the winners.

Division B was comprised of fan-voted players like James “Clayster” Eubanks from eUnited, Bradley “Wuskin” Marshall from UNILAD, Peirce “Gunless” Hillman from Rise Nation, and Seth “Scump” Abner from OpTic Gaming.

The Call of Duty esports competition will continue next week. After the CWL Pro League Stage 2 event on June 26, the top four teams from each Division will duke it out for the biggest share of $500,000 at the CWL Pro League Stage 2 Playoffs between July 27 and 29.
