T-Mobile FamilyMode Controls Kids’ Internet Across All Connected Devices

T-Mobile FamilyMode Controls Kids’ Internet Across All Connected Devices 1

T-Mobile FamilyMode just got unveiled, promising parents more control over their kids’ internet. This mode can be used on their phones and across all connected home devices. It includes management over phones, tablets, gaming consoles, laptops, and even smart TVs.

“Today’s parents face issues that simply didn’t exist 50 years ago are their kids safe online? What sites are they visiting? Are they spending too much time on social media? What the hell is Fortnite? These are questions that parents of my generation didn’t have to answer,” John Legere, the CEO at T-Mobile, said.

With the new T-Mobile FamilyMode, daily limits on apps and platforms can be set. For example, parents can give their kids internet access between certain times during school nights. Or, if the kids binge on too much Netflix, screen time can be limited on their TV.

For the younger kids who are not ready for social media, parents can turn off their devices with a simple tap. They will also be able to restrict certain websites and apps like YouTube.

The mode will have customizable filters, as a way to keep children away from inappropriate content. These filters can either allow or deny access to certain websites and phone and tablet apps Twitch for the older kids, and Minecraft for the younger ones.

Internet search history is another feature of T-Mobile FamilyMode, which will allow parents to see which apps and websites have been used and visited. In addition, with its real-time location information, parents can also know where their kids are from anywhere at anytime.

T-Mobile announced this mode as a “comprehensive solution” to control online usage. Starting on June 29, the T-Mobile FamilyMode will be available online, at retail stores, and by call.
