Tempest 4000, the spiritual successor of the Atari classic just got a release date for later this July.
Atari announced today that the legendary arcade shooter will be making its long-awaited return July 17. The game will be available on Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Those unfamiliar with the series, the last Tempest game to come out was released all the way back in 1994, with the release of Tempest 2000 for the Atari Jaguar. The title was a unique take on the arcade shooter, featuring bright a neon aesthetic over a black, Space background. Many fans of the title claimed it as being the best game on the Jaguar console.
The series is set to come back with Tempest 4000, a more contemporary take on the classic arcade inspired gem, featuring 4k graphics, a level up and upgrade system, online leaderboards and techno beats inspired from the original games.
Temptest 4000 will be available July 17, 2018, on Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
