World of Warcraft: New Warbringers Short Reveals Jaina Proudmoore’s Regret

Blizzard just released a new Warbringers animated short featuring Jaina Proudmoore from the World of Warcraft universe.

In the video, Jaina is ferried on a boat ride by a mysterious hooded figure and she sings a haunting song reflecting her past choices and actions. The song is about her now deceased father, Daelin Proudmoore, who was once the Lord of Kul Tiras.

The tune highlights Jaina’s regret of standing aside from her father and ‘betraying’ him to the Horde, which directly refers to the conflict among Jaina, her father, and the allies of the Horde — namely Thrall, Rexxar, Rokhan, and Chen Stormstout.

Back in Warcraft III, Daelin wanted to get a foothold in Kalimdor and assaulted orcish settlements with Kul Tiras sailors. When Rexxar met a survivor, Gar’Thok, the Mok’Nathal followed a trail of blood leading to the one of human camps.

Later, Rexxar went to the Warchief of that time — Thrall — and found out Thrall was scheduled for a peace summit with Jaina. Having seen the brutality of the humans, Rexxar didn’t trust. He asked to go in the place of Thrall, and was met with an ambush without any sight of Jaina.

Having previously formed a friendship with Jaina, since she reminded him of his childhood friend Taretha Foxton, Thrall reasoned that something was amiss. He then had Rexxar then met up with Jaina, and the latter was horrified to find out what had happened.

When they both went to Theramore to try and resolve the situation, they were met with Daelin’s fleet and the order to capture Rexxar and his allies. Although Jaina pleaded to her father to not capture them, her efforts were in-vain. Against her father’s wishes, Jaina helped Rexxar and his allies managed to flee the city.

Later, Rexxar came back with more Horde allies to go up against Daelin, and eventually, the admiral met his end.

Back to the video, the hooded figure is revealed to be Daelin himself, and Jaina tells her father that she is now listening to him.
