HBO’s first venture into the world of superheroes will debut with a new series based on the legendary DC Comics series, Watchmen.
Not much information is currently available in terms of details, however, the logline or summary of the show paints it as a faithful take on the mature comic series, a perfect fit for HBO. “Set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, Watchmen embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.”
Cast details include several big names, although details on character specifics are unclear, names include Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, Lily Rose Smith and Adelynn Spoon.
A teaser has been released from HBO, quoting Mr Manhatten, a nearly omnipotent and prominent character from the comic series.
The last big live-action take on Watchmen was 2009’s Watchmen movie from Warner Brothers and director Zack Snyder.
HBO promises the show will debut sometime next year, alongside the last season of Game of Thrones and the return of West World.
