Dontnod and Square-Enix have unveiled the first look at Life is Strange 2’s pilot episode.
The episodic series will follow Sean and Daniel Diaz, both of which made their debut in The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, the free prologue to Life is Strange 2 that launched in June. This episode will be the first of five in the series, and will launch on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 27.
According to the Life is Strange blog, the series will focus on the Diaz brothers journey from Seattle to Puerto Lobos, Mexico as they run from law enforcement after a “tragic event.” The brothers’ relationship will be a focal point of the series’ choice-driven story, with Sean’s influencing his younger brother being a key to the decisions the player will make over the course of the five episodes. Dontnod has plans to reveal gameplay footage and more information on Life is Strange 2’s features in the coming days as part of its Gamescom presentation.
While indie band Daughter composed the score and soundtrack for Before the Storm, French composer Jonathan Morali will be returning to the role for Life is Strange 2 after originally working on the soundtrack for the first game. Along with Morali’s original music, Life is Strange 2 will feature licensed music as well, being in keeping with other games in the series.
Life is Strange 2 will be the beginning of a new story and setting for the series, with both the original game and its prequel Before the Storm focusing on protagonists Max Caufield and Chloe Price and their lives in Arcadia Bay, a fictional town in Oregon. The original story of Life is Strange wrapped up in a bonus episode that launched back in March.
More recently, Life is Strange developer Dontnod released Vampyr, an RPG set in London during the early 20th century.
