Intel just announced their new 8th-generation core processors, and they are optimized for connectivity, mobile performance, and a longer battery life.

“The new 8th Gen Intel Core processors extend once again our leadership in delivering exceptional performance,” Chris Walker, the vice president of the Client Computing Group and the general manager of the  Intel Mobile Client Platform, said.

“Now with Gigabit Wi-Fi, we’ve enabled faster PC connectivity, added more intuitive voice experiences and enabled longer battery life needed for the next wave of mobile computing,” he added.

Formerly with the code names Whiskey Lake and Amber Lake, the new U-series and Y-series are built for laptops and two in ones. They also aim to raise the bar for performance and connectivity.

The 8th-generation core u-series processors include i7-8565U, i5-8265U, and i3-8145U, while the y-series include i7-8500, i5-8200Y, and m3-8100Y.

While the 8th-generation core processors use Gigabit Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity for thin laptops, it also lets users connect at home, in the office, or on-the-go. The download speed would allow users to quickly see their favourite shows, edit and share videos, as well as jump into games like World of Warcraft and World of Tanks.

Laptops and two in ones using the new processors will be available from PC manufacturers this fall.
