Atari is changing up its operations and creating four new departments for their operations.
The four new departments are Atari Games, Atari Casino, Atari VCS and Atari Partners. As the name suggests, Atari Games will be dedicated to working on video games and Atari Casino will be responsible for online casino games as well as eSports projects. Atari VCS is the companies hardware branch whereas Atari Partners will focus on partnerships and technology development.
Atari CEO, Frederic Chesnais says that the newly formed departments are complementary and each is headed up by an experienced manager. He also says that the move will accelerate the development of Atari as a whole and help the company achieve profitable growth. This news comes one day after Atari sold the rights to the Alone in the Dark and Acto of War properties to THQ Nordic.
The company is currently working on its first console release in more than 20 years in the VCS, which is set to release at some point in 2019. They’re also working on a number of titles and will be publishing the upcoming Roller Coaster Tycoon game for Nintendo Switch. Atari was founded in 1972 and was the king of the video game industry for over a decade.
