A true triple threat!

New Surface Lineup Dominates at Fall Microsoft Event

This year’s Microsoft event was dominated by a series of upgrades and announcements to the company’s Surface line.

The event, which took place in New York City, showed off the new Surface Pro 6, Surface Laptop 2 and Surface Studio 2. Starting at the top, the Surface Studio 2 is billed as a desktop with high graphical capabilities, an extremely bright screen and impressive performance. The device has a 28-inch screen that tilts back and can be used with Microsoft’s Surface Pen. It also features USB-C and XBox controller functionalities, which make it even more attractive from a gaming perspective. As a result of all of these features, the Surface Laptop 2 carries with it a hefty price tag of $3,499 USD and is very much only for those seeking a top of the line gaming and computation device.

On the cheaper side, Microsoft’s Surface Pro 6 is the company’s newest hybrid device, and it can be used as a laptop, desktop or tablet. The new model, which will retail for $899.99 USD, is faster than the Surface Pro 5 and has a battery life of 13.5 hours. It is also 67% more powerful than last year’s model and weighs in at only 1.7 pounds.

The Surface Laptop 2 is also faster than its previous model, and Microsoft says that it’s 85% more powerful than the original Surface Laptop. The touchscreen on the Surface Laptop 2 is the thinnest touchscreen display of any laptop to date, and it also has a hefty 14.5 hours of battery life. Altogether, the Surface 2 is listed at $999.99 USD and both it and the Surface Pro 6 feature a new matte finish.

Microsoft also announced a new pair of Surface-branded headphones that offer hands-free calling, the ability to cycle through videos and music as well as voice assistant integration. They also automatically pause whatever you’re listening to whenever you take them off and the headphones will retail for $349.99 USD when they launch later this year.
