Microsoft Supporting Indies Through its New Xbox Winter Event

As the holidays approach, it’s inevitable that many incredible sales will fill the world of gaming with joy. With its latest winter event, Microsoft seems to be debuting that initiative – all while supporting Indies too.

Starting December 4th and ending on the 21st, Microsoft will be offering 9 completely new games on the Xbox One’s market place, but to add a holiday twist, there’s a catch. For every game that is purchased from this event, Microsoft is awarding a $5 gift card, meaning that a total of $45 can be gained by simply supporting your favourite Indies.

Since this event is geared towards bringing a spotlight to indie games, Microsoft has ensured to make popular picks for its winter event. Games that players can expect to go on sale include: Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom (December 4), Mutant Year Zero (December 4), Subnautica (December 4), Ashen (December 7), Hello Neighbor: Hide and Seek (December 7), Kingdom Two Crowns (December 11), Desert Child (December 12), Below (December 14) and last but not least, Donut County(December 18)

This isn’t the first time Microsoft has done such an event, in fact, this initiative dates back to the Xbox 360 days, but in an era where Indies are quickly gaining popularity, Microsoft was quick to update its formula to fit modern demand by not only offering the afore-mentioned gift cards, but also by including its Game Pass service as part of package, making some of the adventures listed above completely free for the service’s subscribers.

The winter of arcade event will be available in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
