Ronda Rousey Voiced Character and More Revealed at Mortal Kombat 11 Event

Gore, guts, a new trailer and more were on full display at the Mortal Combat 11 event today.

The reveal event which took place in London, England showed off a number of new and returning fighters for the game, including one voiced by a famous real-life fighter. The fighter in question is former MMA and current WWE combatant Ronda Rousey, who will voice returning character Sonya Blade in the game.

Other returning characters include Baraka, Raiden, Scorpion, and Sub-Zero who will be joined by new character Geras. Geras looks to be a mostly hand-to-hand combatant who also has control over sand, which he can use in a variety of different ways. From spikes and quicksand to teleportation and giant fists, he very much seems like a cross between DC Comics’ Black Adam and Marvel’s Sandman.

On the gameplay side of things, players will be able to customize character loadouts which includes weapons, costumes, intros and more. These features are new to the world of Mortal Kombat but they were used in 2017’s Injustice 2 video game. Mortal Kombat 11 appears to somehow be gorier than Mortal Kombat 10, and some of the finishing moves and combos are certainly not for the faint of heart.

Story-wise, it seems like the crux of the journey will involve characters fighting against younger versions of themselves, as a result of some time distortion by new villain Kronika. It’s probably a safe bet that the story mode will utilize the game’s new character customization suite to keep things interesting.

The pre-order bonuses for Mortal Kombat 11 were also revealed as players who pre-order will receive Shao Kahn as a playable character, as well as access to game’s beta. Mortal Kombat 11 is scheduled to release on April 23, 2019, on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
